Duke of Edinburgh

BISC is very pleased to announce that, following successful application and subsequent accreditation of our school, its students will have the opportunity to partake in the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (DoE) from next year.
The DoE is the world’s leading achievement award for young people. Its balanced programme of activities develops the mind, body and soul in an environment of social interaction, community service, leadership and team working. It encourages young people to live life as an adventure and to never stop learning or challenging themselves.

There are 3levels to the progam,Bronze (age 14+), Silver (age 15+) and Gold (age 16+). It will be available to all our students in Year 9 above.

At each level the students must complete 4 core challenges. These are …

1. Community Service: undertaking service to individuals or the community.

2. Physical: improving in an area of sport, dance or fitness activities.

3. Skill: developing practical skills, social skills or a skill of personal interest

Perhaps the most exciting and well known part of the award, is the final section.

4. Expedition: planning, training for and completion of an adventurous journey in Morocco or abroad, as part of a team.

The links below outline the content of the Bronze and Silver awards, whilst the video gives a short insight into what it is all about.

Become a leader of tomorrow, challenge yourself, gain recognised international qualifications and join us so together we can start your DoE journey.
