BISC Sixth Form
Welcome to the Sixth Form at BISC!
Congratulations on taking the first steps in choosing the BISC Sixth Form to support you in your studies over the next two years.
It’s a difficult choice to make when you’ve got lots of options to consider and we hope that this prospectus will demonstrate that the British International School of Casablanca can provide you with the right courses, and support, to be the successful person you aspire to be. Our ultimate aim is to prepare you for life beyond school, whether your destination is further education, training or employment – and in doing so we focus not only on your academic progress but also on your ability and desire to make a positive contribution to society.
We recognise that this is a crucial and demanding period in the life of any young person and so we take very seriously our responsibility to provide you with the very best care, guidance and support. It is vital also to remember that all of us – staff, students and parents – must work in partnership, with effective communication and mutual respect at the heart of our relationships.
We pride ourselves not only on our high academic standards but also on our commitment to contributing to the development of young people. We look forward to working together with you to offer invaluable opportunities for personal growth and academic development.
So why choose BISC Sixth Form?
Here at the British International School of Casablanca, you will have the opportunity to study A-Levels.
A-Levels, or Advanced Levels, are often referred to as the 'gold standard' of post-16 educational qualifications. They are accepted at universities around the world and are very well-regarded for their level of academic challenge and subject knowledge. Universities believe that they are a very strong preparation for undergraduate studies due to students specialising in three or four subjects and studying them in-depth.
At the British International School, we use Cambridge International A Levels as our main A-Level awarding body. Cambridge A-Levels are one of the most well-known international A-Levels and are accepted at the top 20 universities and all over the world.
We offer a range of A-Level subjects and students choose three or four of them. BISC staff will help guide students into making the best choices for them, related to the choices they want to make at university and their academic aptitude. We have deliberately chosen to offer subjects which are considered 'facilitating' by the best universities. This means that they will open doors for students in a range of university subjects.
See our Sixth Form prospectus and option booklet for up to date information on the subjects being offered for the next academic year.
Academics and Enrichment
At BISC we are proud to offer an experience that is equally strong in terms of academics and enrichment. We know that universities and future employers want to see what students have done outside the classroom, as well as in their studies.
Sixth formers have an opportunity to take part in the International Duke of Edinburgh Award. This is a programme which combines voluntary service in the community, with skills-building and an expedition. This is a programme which challenges students physically and mentally and builds resilience.
We have a range of opportunities in the Performing Arts and sports for sixth form to take part in.
We promote student leadership and our sixth formers have the opportunity to apply to be School Captains, House Captains and other positions of leadership. Their input on the school council is valued by staff and students alike.
